Håkon STENE

Percussionist Håkon studied in Oslo, Freiburg and San Diego with Rob Waring, Kjell Samkopf, Bernhard Wulff, Pascal Pons and Steven Schick among others. In 2012, 2014 and 2016 he was awarded with the Norwegian Grammy for contemporary music (Spellemann).

Soloist performances with ensembles such as Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Ensemble Modern and London Sinfonietta, and chamber performances with ensembles asamisimasa, Oslo Sinfonietta, Klangforum Wien, including venues and festivals such as Barbican, Bergen Festival, Berlin Philharmonie – Debüt im Deutschlandradio, Darmstadt, Donaueschingen, Ultima, Wien Modern, Venezia Biennale and tours throughout Europe, America, Australia and Asia.

Stene has collaborated with numerous composers (such as Bauckholt,Ferneyhough, Globokar, Huber, Lachenmann, Lucier, Saariaho, Steen-Andersen) and is currently involved in the Norwegian Artistic Research Programme with the post- doctoral project Music with the Real.

He is percussion teacher at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau (Germany).
